October 2024: Exciting Leadership Update
Dear Supporters, Volunteers, and EMDR Community Members,
We are thrilled to share some important updates and express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support.
New leadership at Trauma Recovery/HAP
We are excited to announce that Lori Pereira, LPC, LPCC, will assume the role of Executive Director of Trauma Recovery/HAP, effective Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Lori brings a wealth of experience to this position, with a diverse background that includes private practice, community mental health centers, and both nonprofit and for-profit settings. As the owner and consultant for Lori Pereira Counseling & Consulting, she offered EMDR therapy, consultation, facilitation, and training services, while also managing business operations.
Prior to establishing her private practice, Lori held significant roles in Clinical Leadership, Quality Assurance, Compliance, and Corporate Compliance, where she gained a comprehensive understanding of state and federal regulations governing mental health services. With over ten years of management and leadership experience, she has a proven track record of applying psychological principles to enhance leadership, supervision, program development, and project management.
Lori’s connection to Trauma Recovery/HAP spans nearly two decades. She completed her EMDR therapy basic training in 2007 through our organization and has since become a valued member of our faculty. Over the years, she has served as both a HAP facilitator and trainer. Most recently, in 2020, Lori expanded her involvement by becoming the clinical lead of the Facilitator-in-Training (FiT) program and the clinical consultant for the Trauma Recovery Network® (TRN®) program.
We are confident that Lori’s extensive expertise and dedication will guide Trauma Recovery/HAP to new heights. Please join us in welcoming her as our new Executive Director!
The Board of Directors expresses our appreciation to Carol Martin who has served as the Executive Director of Trauma Recovery/HAP for the past fourteen years. Under her leadership, the awareness and effective use of EMDR have expanded exponentially.
Thanks to Carol, our volunteer Trainers and Facilitators – both domestically and internationally- have become established self-sustaining EMDR practitioners. Our training programs and volunteers are premier in the industry. The Trauma Recovery Network has been established to have local volunteers respond to natural and manmade disasters. Coordinating domestic and international training and response to disasters with volunteers and limited resources is a challenge.
Carol has skillfully navigated Trauma Recovery/HAP through tremendous changes, including COVID-19 and transitioning from in-person training to virtual.
Her legacy is a worldwide network of passionate volunteers that are self-sustained and continue to use EMDR therapy to address trauma. The Board of Directors and the entire team at Trauma Recovery/HAP are committed to continuing to grow and support this vital community.
We extend our sincere wishes for Carol’s next steps after retirement from Trauma Recovery/HAP to be fruitful, respectful and satisfying.

Continuing Our Mission
During this time of transition, our mission to increase the capacity for effective treatment of psychological trauma in underserved communities anywhere in the world will continue to be our guide. Just as we have relied upon our mission, vision and values in the past, we will lean into them once again to drive the future of Trauma Recovery/HAP.
Our new Executive Director will have the support of our dedicated staff, Elaine Howard, Training Coordinator, Stephanie Lohret, Trainee Liaison/Faculty Documentation Coordinator, and Sally Parmelee, Director of Communications & Development, as well as our Clinical Team; Kyndel Marcroft, April Minjarez, and Rosalie Thomas. With the experience of these leaders and the guidance of the Board of Directors, we are confident in our ability to continue the important work of HAP and to grow and meet future challenges and opportunities.
We are grateful for your continued support and call on you, our community, to share your thoughts, ideas, and hopes for success with us.
Together, we can bring hope and healing to those impacted by trauma.
Sincerely,
William Stadtlander
President of the Board of Directors
