Congratulations to Our 3rd Round of Scholarship Recipients
We are excited to announce the recipients of our 3rd round of scholarships as part of the Scholarship Fund at Trauma Recovery, EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs. These scholarships reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting the next generation of EMDR therapists dedicated to trauma recovery and community well-being.
The Scholarship Fund was established in 2022 with a clear mission: to provide scholarships to master’s level (or higher) students who are interested in working in Community Mental Health.
Through this program, we aim to empower emerging mental health professionals to make lasting, positive changes in their communities and to continue to increase access to EMDR therapy in underserved communities.
Expanding Our Impact Thanks to Your Generosity
This round of scholarship awards is made possible by the incredible generosity of our supporters during our end-of-year fundraising appeal. Thanks to your contributions, we successfully met our $30,000 fundraising goal, which not only speaks to the strength of our community, but also allows us to expand our reach. With the funds raised, we were able to increase the number of scholarship recipients this round from 10 to 15 students. These scholarships to become EMDR therapists empower recipients to pursue their educational and career goals, ultimately strengthening trauma recovery efforts in underserved communities across the country.
Inspiring Words from Our Applicants
As part of the application process, applicants were asked to share their motivations and goals, with questions such as, “Why do you want to work in the field of community mental health?” and “How and why is learning EMDR important for achieving your clinical goals?”
We were deeply moved by the personal stories shared by our applicants. Here’s a glimpse of their inspiring motivations and goals for becoming EMDR therapists:
“Teaching special education at a middle school in the heart of West Philadelphia was incredibly rewarding yet challenging. I had been trained on how to teach and work with various disabilities, but nothing prepared me for the trauma and baggage my students carried. I became their confidante and safe place, but I felt helpless to help them heal and safely work through their pain and wounds.”
“EMDR’s adaptability makes it an ideal modality for the populations I serve. By addressing the mind-body connection, it is particularly effective for clients who struggle to articulate their experiences or whose trauma is rooted in nonverbal or implicit memories.”
“I want to help make counseling and trauma treatment accessible to all sorts of people, not only those who can afford private therapy.”
We look forward to supporting these students as they embark on their journey to make a lasting difference in the community mental health field. If you’re inspired by their stories, consider supporting our program with a donation helping a future round of recipients achieves their career goals.
Congratulations, and welcome to our 3rd round of scholarship recipients!
