Supporting Communities Affected by California Fires
We would like to take a moment to recognize the profound impact that the ongoing fires in California are having on individuals, families, and entire communities – including many of our HAP volunteers. We are here to extend our support. If you or someone you know needs assistance during this challenging time, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Orange County TRN for help.
Behind the scenes, we are working diligently on a coordinated, long-term response with our Trauma Recovery Network® (TRN®). We are fortunate to have several established TRNs across California, and we are planning to collaborate across these networks to ensure services are available where they are most needed. While immediate concerns for many include basic needs—such as shelter, food, and clothing—our time to provide trauma services is coming, and we are preparing to be ready as an organization when the need arises.
In the coming days and weeks, we will share more specific details about our ongoing efforts. For now, here are some important updates:
For Services in California:
- The Los Angeles County TRN is currently building their network. Due to the tremendous need in Southern CA, please visit the Orange County TRN website for information on how to receive services due to the multiple active fires: http://www.orangecountytrn.com
How You Can Get Involved:
- Licensed EMDR therapists in California: If you are licensed in CA and trained in EMDR Therapy (by an EMDRIA Accredited Training Company) you can join this response. Please complete the volunteer application here.
- Licensed EMDR therapists outside of California: We anticipate that many individuals will be displaced or relocated outside of California, and they will need support. If you are licensed in another state and trained in EMDR Therapy (by an EMDRIA Accredited Training Company) you can join this response. Please complete the volunteer application here.
Donate:
- We will be organizing clinical training events for our TRN volunteers to ensure they are fully equipped to support affected individuals. Donations to the Francine Shapiro Disaster Recovery Memorial Fund will help fund these trainings and support the activities of our TRNs. Your generosity makes a significant impact in our efforts.
We are deeply grateful for the strength of our community and the unwavering support that makes our collective response possible. More information will follow, and we encourage you to stay connected as we navigate this challenging time together.
Thank you for your compassion and commitment.
